Building a Mystery - I Mean - Repertoire

Who doesn’t love a good cover song? Those tried-and-true, well-known pop tunes have the magical ability to transform a room full of strangers into a choir or a dance troop. People who moments before had never interacted start singing along as one, brought together by the shared experience of music.

Over the last few months, I’ve been lucky to get to play my own music almost exclusively. It’s fun, but it doesn’t give me much of an opportunity to create that magical experience described above. I’m really grateful that I have a few people who like what I do enough to know my songs, but I have a long way to go before I can get a room of folks bonding over a shared sing-along.

So I’m building a repertoire (which will probably include Building a Mystery because why not?) that will hopefully get toes tapping or voices humming. Furthermore, I want to know what gets your toes tapping and voice humming. I’m looking for the songs that you want to hear at a bar or playing in the background while you cook at home - especially if they lend themselves to a rendition with just vocal and acoustic guitar. Don’t worry about the gender of the singer or singers (I’ll gladly learn some duets), just make sure to let me know the title and the artist. And if you want to get credit for the suggestion, include your name, but know that you’re more than welcome to submit anonymously.
